Hello to all fellow Mizzou Alumni and Friends!
Fall is here (even if it doesn’t feel like it) and our Football team continues to give us weekly heartaches. But that’s not something new and nor does it define us as Tigers. While the fall typically keeps us busy with football and other activities, your DFW Mizzou Tiger Board of Directors has been hard at work to plan a variety of events for the upcoming year.
We’ve already sent off the local freshman class to Mizzou with our annual Freshman Send-Off in August. We raised money and collected donations for our fellow Tigers in Houston impacted by Hurricane Harvey. We’ve had several watch parties at all 3 Social House locations. That’s just the start.
We are in the works of planning something for Founders day in February, our 4th annual Chase Daniel and DFW Mizzou Tiger’s Golf Tournament March/April, and a couple of other service events to support our community. That’s just the things we know we are doing. If you have any thoughts or suggestions on things you would like to do to connect with us during the course of the year, please email us at dfwmizzoutigers@gmail.com
Just a few short weeks ago, Kitty Baker and I traveled to Columbia to participate in the annual Leaders Weekend for chapter leaders. While it was great to be on campus and relive some old memories, we had an equally great experience in connecting with other volunteer leaders in sharing and learning from each other. Our chapter once again achieved “Capstone Chapter” Status for the 8th year in a row. This status allows us to receive more funds from MAA for direct dues and award a local 4-year scholarship in the amount of $4000 ($1000 awarded annually). We are going to continue to achieve that status once again and continue to be one of the bright and shining starts for Mizzou.
We hope that you can join us at one of our upcoming events. Please watch our various social channels on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as our chapter website and emails for notifications on new activities. Go Mizzou!!
